DeCarlo Coat of Arms

“DeCarlo Coat of Arms”
Pen and Ink on Illustration Board
16″ x 20″

This coat of arms drawing was completed as a gift for for the mother of the bride from the Williamson Coat of Arms. Italian in origin, the original layout was a simple blue and white background with a golden heraldic lion in the center. I took this design and expanded on the possibilities of the colors. The blue became the Mediterranean, the white became a cloud-filled sky. Along the outside perimeter of the drawing are representations of ruins and the bar across the top is the Italian flag. It was remarked how much she enjoys the beach and seashells when the commission was placed, and you can find them in the lower section of the piece. The names of her children are found in the center of the clouds above.
