Considine Coat of Arms

“Considine Coat of Arms”
Pen and Ink on Illustration Board
16″ x 20″

This was the first order I received after I began making these custom drawings. Completed for a good friend of mine as a gift for his dad on Father’s Day, this coat of arms piece is where I first started to include outside characteristics. The original arrangement has three heraldic lions aligned vertically on a red and black shield. I took the lions and made them much more expressive with limbs launching off the borders of the shield. In the upper right I included a small Chicago skyline, the first time I’ve added one to a custom drawing. The red of the right side of the drawing is made to look as stone work. Many of the depictions of later custom coat of arms drawings stem from this initial abstraction.
